ok changed my preferences in safari, will try again - hopefully wont oopen my Dl file..

When it dowloads it automatically unzips it without me doing anything.. then it turns into a folder called iPhone1,1_1
Ive attached screen grab.. the zip files you see arent available as i trashed the related folders. (it then reverts to displaying as a zip file again in DL's even tho the file isnt there)

There is something that goes wrong when downloading... It changes the extension to .zip.
To fix this, in Safari go to Safari>Preferences.
In the General tab, uncheck the "Open safe files after downloading" box.
Then download the firmware again.
And once it downloads, locate the file and change the extension to .ispw.
OR
For a simpler method, just put your iPhone into restore mode and click Restore without holding Option/Shift.
It will automatically download the 1.1.4 firmware straight to your phone, then just use iLiberty...

No it has not, hold down option and hit restore, then select the FW you DL.

i think its restored now, and still connected computer but not showing up in tunes..
should i run liberty now? or should i unplug/plug in iphone to prompt in itunes?

oh crap i have my optus sim in still.. ive relaunched i tunes and its saying my sim is not recognised.. should i put in AT+T ?? if so, at what stage do i put my optus one in??
on the iphone screen it has the insert to itunes diagram on it.

Nah, don't worry about changing the sim. It don't make a difference. Just launch iLiberty now and unlock/jailbreak/activate.
Then try out your phone, to see if it calls and txts...
Then start installing apps via Installer. Have fun. Congrats on taking the plunge and becoming a real modder.  |

hey guys! made it to the other side, but am sad to report that im still having problems!..was so exstatic for a minute there!
now it says 'no service' where yes optus used to be..
on the plus side.. at least i can now enter into the sms and phone screens now.. but when i enter a number and call it says call failed..
i wonder whether i need to change the APN settings??
oh god i am tired.. ecstatic
thanks for your help tonight guys.. Ive come along way!! you're right, its not as scary as it seems.. (but only after you've been through it once ; )) and you have brilliant help along the way!

Hmm, that's beginning to sound scary. Try resetting your network settings again and then if that doesn't work then there maybe be something wrong with your baseband... :S
