New app to create iPhone ringtones -- jailbreak not needed.
Hey all...
A new Windows application has been released which creates ringtones from virtually any audio/video media file...
- Convert virtually any audio format into an iPhone ringtone
- Extracts audio out of video
- Choose which section of the audio you want to hear
- Adjust ringtone length, volume, fade in, fade out and loop gap
- Use audio effects: Delay, Flanger, Boost, Reverse, etc.
- Export to iPhone ringtone format and import right into iTunes
- Stand-alone application: no installing/uninstalling

Well, it certainly does just what it says on the tin and is a breeze to use.
And the catch is?

In that case it's excellent. I can't think how it could be easier.

I think the catch is that it shows a little advert on the bottom. To remove it, says it costs $10USD but the software is pretty good though.

I am also interested in any ideas or additional features everyone would like to see added. The app is only 24 hours old at this point.
Please post anything and I will keep checking back.

That was a mouthfull
Sure, that works.. but you only get the first 30 seconds... no fade in, no fade out.. no loop gap, no volume control, etc.
The intent of the application is to give you all the iTunes functionality without having to pay the .99$ per ringtone.
and most importantly... make it easy. Jumping around windows and renaming files is not easy. It's cumbersome. Slow. and could keep people from actually enjoying decent ringtones.

i was thinking of some effects, but keeping it simple at the same time... like Chorus, Delay, Flanger, etc...
Obviously nothing too hi-tech since it will ultimately be played out of the iPhone's tiny speakers.
I have some experience in simpler audio algorithms, so i will see what i can do.

I can't seem to stop using this. It's so much easier and better than the longwinded iTunes workaround.
I'd like to see you add the following:
- Volume boost
- When testing, test with the chosen gap time, so it runs through at least twice, as a ringtone would.
- iTunes opens automatically to the Ringtones folder
- An option to select the ringtone for sync next time
(Not sure if it's possible to send commands to iTunes to achieve the last two)
Keep up the good work.

Hi.. thanks for the suggestions..
1) Definitly going to get added in. I will do that tomorrow
2) I will do that as well... I will just have it play until you hit "stop"
3 and 4) i don't know much about the iTunes API at this point... but, i will look into it tomorrow.
thanks!

Firmware 1.1.1
Is there a way for this to work with 1.1.1? If not I guess I'll have to upgrade to 1.1.2 to enjoy custom ringtones!

You should certainly polish the GUI up a bit. Other than that it works as posted. Excellent work. I still like Adobe Soundbooth.
