Dear BigBoss,
I am having some troubles with plug-in I prepared for BossPrefs 1.73 installed on my iphone. I have 1.1.1 firmware (user root) and would like to toggle edge proxy on and off via the BossPrefs interface. I've read your guide several times and prepared my own EdgeProxy to be located in services subfolder.
The file contains four lines:
cp /var/preferences/proxy.edge /var/preferences/proxy.pac
cp /var/preferences/proxy.off /var/preferences/proxy.pac
cmd grep 127.0.0.1 /var/preferences/proxy.pac
/Applications/BossPrefs.app/edge.png
You see, to toggle proxy on and off I replace the autoconfig file proxy.pac
To check the toggle state I grep the "127.0.0.1" in proxy.pac and if the string found toggle assumed to be on.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work as I like. When I start BossPrefs it checks its own state and shows EdgeProxy off despite the fact that current proxy.pac contains "127.0.0.1" pattern. Does it mean that there is no way to check it like this?
Moreover, it is really tricky to figure out how BossPrefs 1.73 works under 1.1.1.
Does this version use "mobile" user account to start its plugins?
I noticed that even cp commands did not work from inside BossPrefs until I changed the permission of /private/var/preferences directory from 755 to 777, root is the owner of this directory.
I have tried to make some .sh scripts and used "exist" statement in third line.
I found some examples on this page
iPhone in Canada Forums - The Canadian iPhone Online Community - How To disable Auto-Loading Images in HTML Mail
My scripts contained the same above cp commands plus extra command to create or remove dummy file. Its presence should signal BossPrefs of plugin state.
I put scripts in the scripts subdirectory, set them to 755 but they failed to start as far as I noticed toggling my plugin in Bossprefs. Changing the button to OFF and ON left files in /var/preferences untouched.
Please help to me to debug the case.
Thanks in advance.
