SSH and 2.0

If there was an application which was just SSH or could install OpenSSH, it could possibly be better than Super Monkey Ball(, or even the #10 ranked best seller iBeer )

If you have ANY information regarding SSH coming to the new firmware, please do tell!

Moderators - This can go in the AppStore section because I am asking for it to be a future app in the AppStore

Not sure if this would apply but here it is...IPhone: DataCase App Brings File Browser & Wireless Data Transfer to iPhone & iPod touch

There is no way Apple is going to let customers have complete access to systems files with anything even remotely close to SSH. This goes into general discussion

Are you talking about an ssh server or client? If you were requesting for a client. I would also be on the list for wanting a program that acts as an ssh client so I can log in remotely to servers for work and so forth. Think of putty for the iphone. You do not need filesystem access to use an ssh client.

Muahaha! Instead of all these people wanting to pirate apps. How about we do a reverse and get a working version of Cydia and SSH and hack them onto the iTunes store for everyone to download. :P

I tried installing OpenSSH from Cydia, but when it went back to the dashboard there was no icon.

Come to think of it, there never WAS an icon.

But it did say something previously about generating a secure key, etc

Anyway, I still can't SSH into my iPhone! ****!

When you install OpenSSH it never has put an icon on your Springboard, its all inside the filesystem. You just look at your WiFi IP address under Settings, type that in an SSH client on your computer with Port: 22 Username: root and password: alpine and then it should connect and give you acces to the filesystem...

I've tried this and it still doesn't work. It just times out, searching for the iphone.
and i installed openssh from cydia, and deleted it, then even re-installed it.
what gives?

Restart your iPhone.

I was having your same problem, you have to install OpenSSH and then restart your iPhone/iPod Touch, and Voila! It will connect once its been restarted.

Steps:

1. Install OpenSSH
2. Restart iPhone/iPod Touch
3. Connect with SSH Client

Voila!
