Pwnage PwnageTool is a brilliant application which allows you to "pwn" your iPhone and allow it to accept custom firwares, which can be jailbroken/unlocked/etc. By the Dev Team. |

Pwnage Tool Major Problems
Be very careful everybody. We all love the work that they (Dev Team) have done and continue to do, and we certainly want them to continue. This post is only to let you know that there are problems with the latest release. I've Pwned my iPhone many times now but major issues came about with the new tool. Passwords were not remembered, said to be not correct, bluetooth headset wouldn't connect, Wi-Fi would drop, emails could not be retrieved, and mobile me wasn't syncing anything. I'm sure that they will fix things very soon as they always do. I simply, updated without the pwn for now. Everything is working great. I can't wait to Jailbreak it again though. Pwnage and WinterBoard= a winning combination!!!

I'm having all these same problems as well. Passwords aren't being remembered, and I can't get into my email, it says something like "Username or password are not correct" when they are. I have also noticed that my wifi seems to be less stable.

I noticed that on my original iPhone, none of the 2.x.x firmwares were very stable, especially wifi signal I downgraded back to 1.1.4 on the old iPhone. On my 3G iPhone I also had signal issues but 2.0.2 seems to have solved many of the problems and instability, however, I used Quickpwn, not Pwnage.
Did you build your own custom firmware or did you use one someone else made? Its usually a good idea to build your own firmware.
Other solutions for password saving issues, install BossPrefs and do the fix user dir permissions (under the 'more' tab). Or to restore and pwn again.
Rules 1-5 for jailbreak- always restore as NEW iPhone and not from backup. Your contacts and itunes stuff will resync and while a pain, you can reenter your other settings in a few minutes.
Another question is, what other non app store apps do you have installed. The original release of Dock conflicted with my email accounts. Problems solved after i uninstalled Dock and deleted and recreated my email accounts. I beleive the newer release of Dock has addressed this but i haven't tried it yet.

I had these same problems last night with the new version of PWNAGETOOL 2.0.3..... i re-pwned twice and still did not have mobileme syncing or my passwords saving, including voicemail. Here's how I fixed it.
1.) Download Terminal from Cydia.
2.) Launch Terminal
3.) Type 'su root' and hit return
4.) Type 'alpine' and hit return
5.) Type 'cd /' and hit return
6.) Type 'chmod 777 /var/Keychains' and hit return
7.) Type 'chmod -R 777 /private/var/Managed\ Preferences/' and hit return
8.) Type 'restart' and hit return
- Cheers

just restart your phone manually. Restart is not a valid command. Once you restart it, your permissions will be set correctly.

When I type command #7 I am told "no such file or directory"
edit*
Nevermind, I figured it out and it works!
Make sure you type:
'chmod -R 777 /private/var/ Managed\ Preferences/' and hit return
and NOT:
'chmod -R 777 /private/var/ Managed Preferences/' and hit return
For some reason #7 in quotes is different. Thank you for this CharlesJV!

This is freaking crazy...I pwn'd my 3G to the 2.0.0 firmware and eventhough it doesn't run very smooth (delay keyboard, some apps crash) the last two releases from the almighty "dev team" have been not up to par. If you have to continue giving your phone commands after you pwn'd the device then its just not a good product. Even if its free. I will not update my 3G with Pwnage again. Too many people are having issues. I am not hating, but the same thing happened to my 1st Gen iPhone when I pwn'd it. I used Ziphone on the same phone and never had any other issues. I thought the "dev team" would have put out a better product since they tore Ziphone apart earlier this year. I am just glad that I can afford to buy an iPhone anytime I wish. I hope everyone's phones work okay out there. I will stay on 2. freakin' 0 until its worth upgrading because Apple gives us something worth upgrading. I also hope the "dev team" solve the issues. We have placed a lot of faith in their abilities. I am a nobody but they should really make the jailbreak much easier, yep like Ziphone one button solution.
