Should i Jailbreak ?
Hey all,
Im 13 and if i eventually get it around my bill paying mother, id like to jailbreak my iPhone and add installer but if i did, what software would i use ? could i break it? and could i restore it back to its original condition ?
I have seen that jailbroken iPhones can do alot more but should i take the risk ?
Thanks in advance,
Ste

This won't touch your contract with O2.
Be very careful, do not unlock it, do not touch the bootloader, do not use ZiPhone, and your phone will be 100% fine. I say this because your like me, i pay my parents for the phone bill and its a little tricky to afford a new phone if it breaks. Use iLiberty+ to JUST jailbreak, and get installer and install some apps! But if you'd like to be safe, wait till Monday if they have 2.0 out, cause you probably won't be able to update right away if your jailbroken.

This isn't going to be the popular opinion, especially here, but I don't think you should jailbreak. As long as you're not messing with the baseband, bootloader, or unlocking there is very little chance of a problem, but there is a chance, and it isn't like your in the position to replace the phone. If it's something you'd have to "get around" on your parents, who are paying for the phone, you'd probably be best off not taking the risk.

Should i Jailbreak ?
Before you do anything, I would study up on how to restore first. If you did decide to jailbreak and something went wrong, you should know how to do that first to be safe.
Also, last time I checked, and I could be wrong, there wasn't a lot of apps that are compatible with 2.0 yet so I would jailbreak with 1.1.4 and learn what I can with that and then when you know your way around the phone, maybe go to 2.0. if/when there are compatible apps that are available for that version. And I agree with the above posters...STAY AWAY FROM ZIPHONE!
If you do research on these forums and look at the different problems people have, sooner or later in their post you will see the term "I used ziphone"! Especially read the DON'T USE ZIPHONE post. I know people have problems with other methods but it's mostly because they didn't study up on the procedures necessary for a successful jailbreak/unlock/activation and then wonder why it didn't work.
I used iLiberty+ and didn't have a single problem. But I also spent many hours researching and making notes before I tried anything. I would also use Pwng but as tempted as I am to use it, my phone is running like a well oiled machine since I jailbroke it right out of the box that I probably won't do anything except add an app now and then for a long time to come.
One last thing, I like to recommend doing searches on youtube because there are a lot of videos on there that can help along the way. Good Luck on whatever you decide.
