Do Not Use ZiPhone

Hey All.
I've seen many a thread about ZiPhone, and i figured its time to weed it out. I have used it, and its a dangerous method, let me elaborate.

ZiPhones 1-Pass method stuffs everything into the ramdisk, this can lead to memory corruption, like grayed out Wi-Fi or bluetooth.

ZiPhone automatically downgrades your bootloader to 3.9, which thankfully now can be updated again using Bootneuter. The reason this is bad is that if your iPhone is 1.1.2 or higher, your warranty used to be gone permanently, thanks to the Dev team though Bootneuter is an amazing (but again, dangerous if not used properly) tool.

Instead use iLiberty+ or Pwnage. iLiberty+ uses a 2-Pass Method which doesn't load everything onto the ramdisk, in fact it does very little, it uses payloads in the working OS, so no memory corruption can occur.

Therefore, iLiberty+ and Pwnage are much safer, and not to mention ZiPhones code was stolen from the Dev Team, who didn't release it for the reasons above. He has now been kicked out obviously. The Wi-Fi Fix actually replaces the phones MAC address with Zibri's. So make sure not to put two Wi-Fi fixed phones on the same network!

In short. ZiPhone = Bad iLiberty+/Pwnages = Good.
If anyone has anything to ad, please let me know.

If your iPhone has the grayed Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Issue, here is the Dev Team's fix. If your bootloader is downgraded and your iPhone is OTB 1.1.2 use Bootneuter to upgrade.
Just remember, research anything you want to do to your phone before you do it, make sure its safe and this applies to everything you do.
I even question Zibri's ability to code, he doesn't fix the software he calls his problems, this shows a level of arrogance that is unprecedented. So please don't use it.
Thanks to dale1v for alerting me about ZiPhones evils

I think iLiberty would be much more popular if it was as simple as ZiPhone. ZiPhone consists of 1 button to do everything. I used ZiPhone for 1.1.4, the first version made available, and I occasionally dont have any AT&T service when I turn on my phone, but a reboot or 2 does the trick...

^^ amen. i remember researching, watching endless youtube videos word for word. having to pause and rewind a couple seconds and put my face like 2 inches from the screen to see exactly what the guy was doing to jailbreak his iPhone.
Dang. i can't believe how far this has come
BUT. back to the post. i used Ziphone to unlock, jailbreak, activate my phone and have seen no side effects? my WiFi is fine and i get service like everywhere. i haven't tried the unlock with a different simcard other than ATT because i don't have one, but i'm sure it would work

whats the difference in bootloaders? and why is downgrading is so bad?

Doerrfan, very good post.

Also:
When you say that you can't see any problems, you need to keep an open mind and remind yourself of how little of the phone you can actually see. Stuff is working in your phone at a much deeper level than what is visible to an end user, right down to the foundations. When ZiPhone crashes through these foundations during jailbreak, the whole phone becomes unstable. You could go weeks, months even and nothing happens and you think it's all good. You just won't be able to see the damage until something does happen and your phone starts to collapse.

If your iPhone is stock 1.1.2 or higher, your bootloader is downgraded and your warranty voided. But now you can update your phone back to 4.6 thanks to bootneuter.

And while you might not have any problems now and think its great, remember we all thought anySIM 1.0.2 was fine.

As I always say, ZiPhone was good when there were no alternatives...
