i perfected a way! i was not using this method, cybergreg showed me a link to have 1.1.1 ringtones.

this is the location here

works great except it takes up twice the space so i sync the ringtones and then replace all the m4r's with blank documents and it works!

example i made a holloween ringtone and my files after synced were:

VCEW.m4a
YWHF.m4r

so i deleted the m4r file and then made a new document named it YWHF.m4r and boom worked perfect!!!

I can make a ringtone in about 15 seconds with garageband

Finally, after having my ring tones only to show up and not having any sound, everything is working now.

so i attempted to put 4 ringtones on there and i can never get all of them to play. i either get only 1 to play or 2 to play, but never all 4. is there a certain way you have to number the spoofs? my 1st song corresponds to spoof, 2nd-spoof4, 3rd-spoof3, 4th-spoof2 (if that makes sense)

i tried switching the spoofs around and i still get the same result...

if someone can post their plist, that would be awesome!

I've got one song I purchased from itunes and 3 custom sounds. They are all working.

2 of my sounds were encoded with Itunes 7.4.1.2 and would not play.

I updated my itunes to 7.4.3.1 and now they all work. Dunno it it was the encoding or a fluke, but they all work now. Here's my plist.... (the first one was a purchase via itunes)

what is causing the problems?

Ok... ive been messing around... is there an alphibical problem.. or a name length problem? And i know that it doesnt matter about spaces... what is keeping 2 out of the 5 from not playing?

Mine worked but I'm having the same problems as well. I have placed 4 ring tones but only 2 are playing.

The GUID is bad. It has to be numbers or letter from A to F. Just use digits its simpler

Try copying one of my sections into your plist and change your actual files to the names I have. Just to test it and see if your sound plays.

I found a mistake in my own tutorial. I'm sorry. Each ringtone needs its own spoof file.
