It has been announced, the iPhone will be officially sold in countries all over the world. Vodafone has announced that they will be selling the iPhone in ten countries. They fail to give a time frame or any real details except for the country names:

Australia
Czech Republic
Egypt
Greece
Italy
India
Portugal
New Zealand
South Africa
Turkey

And those lucky folks in Italy are going to get a choice jealous between carriers since Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced that they too will be selling the iPhone. Oh and if you're curious, TIM also didn't provide any real details.

Raging Thunder Looks Like SDK App, Available Now

Polarbit has created a really cool game for the iPhone and iPodTouch that starts to take advantage of the potential gaming and graphics capabilities. The game is called Raging Thunder and is a great look at what we can expect to come in the near future.

The game is still a bit buggy but it looks really cool and is an awesome example of iPhone and iPod touch gaming potential. Hopefully it will be refined further for even better gameplay. Controls are a bit hard to get used to, you DO drive via the accelerometer, but with a bit of practice it will probably be very usable.

Play and record multiple instruments
o Drums, bass, guitars, keyboards can all be played and recorded into one song from the same application.
o There are no limits on the instrument interface, enabling not only standard instruments but also unusual, outlandish, or completely novel instruments to be created and played.
o MooCowMusic:Band can be expanded with future instrument packs and user-created instruments.
o Multitouch - press up to five keys at once for complex chords.
o Animation shows keys being pressed, strings being struck, etc.

User-definable instruments
o All instruments in MooCowMusic:Band are defined as simple text files, making it easy to create your own instruments to use within the application. As long as you can edit a text file, create or find some sound samples, and create a graphic backdrop, then you can design and build your own instrument. Alternatively you can import instruments that other people have created for you by simply copying them to the application Instruments folder.

Recording and Playback
o Any instrument can be recorded, or overdubbed onto a previous recording. The only limitation is note polyphony.
o Each instrument has an overlayed panel at the top of the screen containing all the common controls for recording and choosing an instrument.
o Via a settings menu, the user can erase any mistakes by erasing select instruments from the mix, or even the last few notes recorded.
o After erasing, the user can go back and overdub replacement notes onto the track.

Metronome
o To aid in timing, a metronome is available which can be enabled or disabled during recording.
o The metronome tempo is configurable, as is the number of beats per bar.

Advanced audio engine
o Mono or stereo samples. 14.1Khz 16Bit.
o Multisampled instruments, with each key triggering a separate sample.
o Samples stop when you lift your finger, allowing more expression.
o Configurable Attack stage of playback allows samples to fade in gradually.
o Configurable Release stage of playback allows samples to fade out when you release the note.
o Samples can be defined to loop for as long as the key is pressed.
o Each instrument can be indepenently panned and its volume set, to position it in the mix.
o Each instrument can be muted.
o Each instrument can be soloed (mute all other instruments and just allow this one to play).
o Play along to your MP3s.

The application is currently in Beta Test stage. I expect it to be released in a few days time.

Insiders have confirmed to Fortune that ATT will in fact be subsidizing the cost on the new 3G iPhone, which will be released this summer. That means the $399 8GB will be only $199, and the $499 16GB model will only be $299 with an ATT contract.

It makes sense for Apple to not offer these rebates from their retail stores, perhaps with a mail-in rebate available from ATT on phones purchased from the Apple store. Of course T-Mobile users and non-ATT users won't qualify for the rebate - the point of subsidizing is to offer a lower price on a product in order to gain higher long-term revenue from subscription (i.e. - your $150 ATT bill ;) ).

The insider also confirmed as has been rumored that the 3G version will have proper GPS rather than the cell tower based solution currently in place on the iPhone.

Rogers announced Tuesday that they WOULD be releasing the iPhone for users of their network. They did not release any information on the date, other than "later this year".

Canadian iPhone lovers have been drooling since before the US launch of the iPhone, waiting to get their hands on an official Canadian iPhone. Over 150,000 Canadians visit MMi every month (what's up, Vancouver and Weston!) - well, now you'll be getting official Rogers iPhones. :D

Second Gen 3G Iphone Confirmed features!

Well some of this info has been posted before as rumors but it does seem that they are in the testing phase of the 3G iphone. According to engadget it could ship as early as July. Here is a rundown of the confirmed new features.

PICTURE REMOVED BECAUSE PEOPLE CANT READ THAT THE PIC WAS FAKE

The first thing people will notice: the 2nd gen iPhone will be about the same size and shape as the first gen.
It will, of course, have 3G. And proper GPS!
The most noticeable physical difference is back of the phone is no longer metal -- the whole thing is glossy black, from top to bottom. The volume buttons are now chrome.
Because it's got a little less metal to deal with, it doesn't have quite as many angular edges. The battery is (still) not removable.
The phone itself will be slightly thicker than the first gen device.
The headphone jack will no longer be recessed, and will finally be flush with the body.
The device itself uses roughly the same size and resolution screen as the first generation product.
No solid word on battery life or storage capacity.

Hell Im happy with it being 3G but proper GPS, thats niiice. Obviously take this with a grain of salt since it did not come from Apple directly.

Apple sent out the email to developers Wednesday announcing the release of the 4th beta version of the iPhone SDK.

The fourth beta version of the iPhone SDK includes Xcode IDE, iPhone simulator with Open GL ES support, Interface Builder, Instruments, frameworks and samples, compilers, and Shark analysis tool.

Watch your DVR from your iPhone - MythTV for iPhone

This is a great new project being worked on by Chris Carey. He created a front-end for MythTV to allow you to view recorded MythTV content on your iphone! Of course you must have MythTV and its only shown to work on what appears to be a wifi'd home network. :D

iBuilder - Make Your Own Custom Firmware | Windows

iBuilder, a nifty new project by rotem25, allows you to select from a large list of items for your iPhone, and create a package which can then be added to your internalPackages in iPwnage and used to create a custom firmware for your iPhone.

You can then use iTunes to simply restore your iPhone to the new firmware, with all your favorite apps, sources, or packages already in there. Not too bad...
