if you keep getting "error 6"
Then you aren't in DFU mode. I had the same problem. When you complete re sequence you should have a blank screen and then quit winpwn first before opening iTunes to restore. I heard of another way to put in DFU mode. With your iPhone off plug it in while holding down the home button. I've never done it that way, but I hear it works. Good luck. Hope this helps.

DFU has nothing to do with it, I got error 6 like 20 times and I was in DFU mode.

This is what I did and it finally worked:

I updated to 2.01 and did a restore to a previous time.

Reboot my machine, made new custom pack only cydia and standard partition (basically as basic as I could make it)

Did the normal steps and it finally worked.

I was having the same "6" errors for hours until I tried this, seems as if I wasnt in DFU properly

It looks like you are not in DFU mode but in recovery mode.

Try the following steps to manually enter DFU mode :

- Plug iPhone to the PC via USB
- Switch off the iPhone
- Hold Power and Home buttons together 10 seconds (precisely!)
- After 10 seconds, release Power button but keep holding Home button until your PC recognized the iPhone as a USB device
- The display should be black like it is switched off
- DFU mode is reached !

People always seem to get upset saying I have error 6 WTF?!!?, lol, I think most of us had the same problem, its because DFU mode was not reached, only recovery mode. No blank screen?, no DFU mode! :P
